Here's the TL;DR: Vapoureyes' main warehouse is moving to Melbourne over the Easter long weekend. Orders placed today won't be fulfilled until Tuesday 23 April at the earliest, so we're throwing in a free 60ml bottle of juice with all orders to make up for the delay. The Vapoureyes Lounge, our brick and mortar store in Blair Athol, is staying in Adelaide, and once the move is complete customers all around Australia, including South Australians, will be able to continue to order from our online store like normal without any disruptions.
As you're no doubt aware South Australia's new anti-vaping legislation is forcing many of Australia's largest vape companies, including Vapoureyes, to move interstate to avoid being shut down.
Right now, a team of burly people are busy packing up the contents of our main South Australian warehouse, loading it all into a ridiculously long series of trucks, and wending their way through the interstate highway system to our new HQ in Melbourne's eastern warehouse district.
Since we can't exactly ship orders while all the stock we have is sitting in a truck bound for Melbourne, order fulfilment is on hold until Tuesday 23 April. We know it's frustrating to have to wait for vape mail, so we'll be throwing in a free 60ml bottle of juice valued at $24.95 with all orders placed during this period.
Although Vapoureyes has expanded internationally in recent years and our products now reach vapers all over the planet, we've always been a South Australian company run by a close family of South Australian team members, most of whom have lived here for our entire lives. The prospect of being forced out of our homes and away from our families by a government that cares more about protecting the pharmaceutical industry than helping people quit smoking is truly devastating, but sadly unavoidable.
To be clear, we're not abandoning South Australia completely: the Vapoureyes Lounge in Blair Athol will continue to operate as normal under the new legislative regime, and once the move is complete our online store will continue to ship orders to customers in South Australia for the foreseeable future.
For the vast majority of our customers the only thing that will change is where their parcel is shipped from, everything else remains exactly the same - the website is the same, the ordering process is the same, the prices are the same, the shipping methods are the same, and customers in South Australia (and every other part of the country) will still be able to order online without any issues.
We also remain deeply committed to our lobbying, public reach-out, and government relations programs in South Australia and across the country. Over the last 12 months Vapoureyes has directly invested more than $250,000 in our advocacy efforts, and although the battle in South Australia has been lost for now, we have no intention of losing the larger war — we're not going to stop or slow down our advocacy work, we'll continue to apply pressure to governments and politicians around the country to seek positive legislative change on a state and federal level, and we'll continue to lobby the TGA so that vapers can finally access liquids containing nicotine without having to order from overseas.
While we're sad to be leaving South Australia, we're also excited for the new opportunities this relocation provides. There are a lot of amazing things in the pipeline this year; new products, new sales, new team members, and even some new companies that are joining the Vapoureyes group.
Thank you to everyone who's offered kind words of support during this extremely difficult, extremely busy time. We're so thankful to be part of South Australia's vibrant vaping community and we look forward to joining our industry comrades in Victoria.
Onwards and upwards!
