Update @ 4:30pm January 10th: After a MONUMENTAL effort by the packing team, we're 100% caught up and all orders are now being shipped without any delay!
Update @ 7:30pm January 9th: All orders placed on or before January 4 have now shipped, and we're on track to be fully caught up within the next few days.
Howdy folks, we'd like to apologise for the current shipping delays and give you some information about what we're doing to move things forward as quickly as humanly possible. We're very sorry about how long it's taking to get everything cleared and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.
Here are some fast facts:
- Order fulfilment has been slower than expected due to safety concerns at our Dandenong warehouse
- Australia Post has suspended deliveries to the ACT and some parts of NSW, WA, and Victoria
- We anticipate clearing the order backlog by the end of this week, as long as we can ensure the safety of our packing team
- Many Australians have lost homes and loved ones to these horrific fires, and we'd like to encourage anyone who can help to donate essential items like socks and toothpaste to Shoe Boxes of Love, an Australian charity based in South Australia that sends emergency disaster relief care packages to people in need (more on that in a minute)
As you're no doubt aware, a staggering percentage of Australia is on fire right now. While we fortunately haven't been directly affected by the flames, smoke from nearby fires have made it all but impossible for our packing team to continue working safely.
We've been able to source particulate masks and other breathing equipment, but the level of risk is still too high. Our number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our team, so fulfilment has been temporarily suspended.
At this stage, based on air quality projections for the coming days, we anticipate that the backlog will be cleared by the end of the week, however the situation is highly unstable and further delays may occur.
If you have a pending order and you can't afford to wait any longer for it to be shipped, please don't hesitate to reach out to us and ask for a full refund, we'll make all the necessary arrangements without question.
Again, we very much appreciate the understanding and kindness that the vast majority of customers have shown and we feel awful about letting you down like this. We're keen to get everything cleared up as quickly as possible and we'll keep you updated as things improve.
If you feel devastated by these fires and would like to help the people affected, please consider donating money or essential items to Shoe Boxes of Love. For the last decade, every time there's been a fire or a flood or some other disaster where people have lost their homes and possessions, Shoe Boxes of Love have mobilised their team of volunteers to provide much-needed care packages containing basic everyday items like socks, hair brushes, tampons, underwear, and toys for small children.
Helping is easy: all you need to do is check out the list of recommended items on the Shoe Boxes of Love website and buy whatever you think will help. You don't even need to leave your house, Klose's Supermarkets have set up a Click and Collect donation drive where you can put together a shopping cart of essential items and have them shipped directly to Shoe Boxes of Love: just select the appropriate option during checkout and they'll take care of the rest. Alternatively, you can also donate money via GiveNow if you'd rather let Shoe Boxes of Love determine what items they need to purchase.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated their time, money, and resources to Shoe Boxes of Love and other charities around Australia, especially those of you who live overseas and therefore aren't directly affected. This is a difficult time for our country and a test of our national character, and we think it's awesome that, for the most part, Australians have come together and passed that test with flying colours.
